‘Michael’ dir. on meeting Gen. Soleimani

Sirous Moqaddam shares details about his meeting with Gen. Soleimani.

Iranian director Sirous Moqaddam has opened up about his meeting with the late martyr, Major General Qasem Soleimani.

According to Moqaddam, the two met when the decision to produce the fifth season of the hit series ‘Capital’ was made.

Describing Soleimani as “extremely humble and compassionate”, the director said that he had great conversations with the martyred general while writing the screenplay and for other parts of the filmmaking process, calling it one of the most “unforgettable moments” of his life.

Upon hearing about the major general’s assassination by US terrorists, Moqaddam said that he was in shock.

The award-winning filmmaker, who was an assistant director for Davoud Mirbaqeri’s ‘Imam Ali (AS)’ series, said that the news reminded him of a scene in the series when the news of Malek’s (Daryoush Arjmand) martyrdom spread; a character in the film goes on to say, “It was not until Malek’s death, that I realized death does indeed exist”.

“The report of Haj Qasem Soleimani’s martyrdom was just as overwhelming, unexpected, and agonizing. He had a unique effect, making it difficult to believe the news,” Moqaddam added.

He further stated, “Simply put, this incident united Iranians even more. When logic hits a dead-end, terrorism enters, which is condemned.”

Soleimani was a member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and commander of the Quds Force.

Throughout the years, he gained popularity for offering military assistance to oppressed people in various countries, including the Kurds, Palestinians, and Iraqis who were victims of barbaric attacks by tyrants, occupying forces, and terrorist organizations.

His most recent achievement was the heavy casualties and humiliation he inflicted on the Daesh terrorist group in Iraq and Syria.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Soleimani was targeted by a US terrorist operation resulting in his martyrdom.

Known for his numerous TV productions, Moqaddam has directed more than 17,000 minutes of TV series, some of which were recently aired on ifilm, including ‘Madineh’, ‘The Redemption’, ‘The Wall’, ‘Until Being with Sorayya’, ‘The Days of Life’, ‘Coma’, and ‘Floating in a Bubble’.
